Leonardo on show. In Milan

The 1,119 sheets of the Codex Atlanticus, which for more than 40 years were bound in 12 volumes of such a weight that their preservation was at risk, were disassembled and placed individually in special cases to keep them in the best environmental conditions, rendering them now visible to the wider public.

This project to raise visibility and promote the Codex Atlanticus involved the digital scanning of all sheets. See the page on the digitalization project.

he exhibition project is distributed over six years: 22 sheets will be displayed in rotation, approximately every three months, from September 2009 until Expo 2015. The exhibition is located in two prestigious Milanese exhibition sites: the Sacrestia del Bramante in Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Sala Federiciana at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
